Episode 34: The Murder of Amanda Davies
Let’s rewind back the clock to that Sunday, April 12th, 1992 in Dansville-a small rural town in mid-Michigan. Amanda Davies was feeling good. She’d just had a week-long spring break vacation in Clearwater, Florida with girlfriends, and she was excited to show off the photos.
It had been sunny and in the forties that day in Dansville, but the night would be cold barely reaching the high teens or low twenties.
Amanda bid farewell to her dad around ten pm. He asked where she was going and smiling, she told him, “Don’t worry about it,” which was their little joke -the thing she said whenever she left the split-level house on Dexter Trail in Dansville.
Her mother watched the taillights of her daughter’s pickup truck through a window, not knowing it was the last time she’d see her beautiful daughter alive.
Amanda’s body would be found eleven days later. She’d been brutally murdered-stabbed to death and her throat had been slit.
Months after the discovery, Mike Carroll of Mason, Michigan-a friend of Amanda’s whose relationship with her had become sexual in the weeks before her death would be arrested for her murder. After a six-week trial, Carroll would be acquitted.
Her murder remains unsolved.
